Suicide prevention and intervention
Suicide is one of the leading causes of preventable death. The design and implementation of effective and evidence-based public policies must be supported by national data on the incidence of suicide attempts and suicide risk factors. In this respect, our group is carrying out the SURVIVE project with funding from the Carlos III Health Institute in collaboration with CIBERSAM groups. Among the main objectives of this project are to collect epidemiological data on suicide at the national level (number of attempts and number of new attempts by those who have already made a first attempt), to identify which factors can predict the repetition of an attempt, and to measure the effectiveness of specific care programs for suicidal behavior prevention, with one of the programs specifically for adolescents.
